Obama And His Smoking Habits Defeated?

When Barack Obama took the office of the President of the United States he promised that he would try and stop smoking. After all, the dangers of cigarettes are something that a person in a high level position like this should understand. It can be not only dangerous to his health but also harmful to its image.

However, the point about Obama and smoking is that it has been very difficult for him to try and get beyond this habit. There have been many stories about how Obama has been smoking over the years. He has been smoking for around thirty years. However, he has been struggling to work towards getting over this difficult addiction.

Obama has admitted a number of times that he has fallen off of the path to stop smoking. This concern on Obama and smoking is something that he has brought up a number of times. Obama made a statement in a June 2009 press conference that related to his struggles. The statement suggests that the link between Obama and smoking has been one that Obama has been trying to get rid of but has admittedly gotten wrong.

Of course, Obama has clearly expressed his strong desire to get out of the habit. He acknowledges that his problem is wrong and that he does not want other people to get into the same habit that he has fallen into. In fact, Obama even went as far as to sign a bill stating that all tobacco products would be regulated by the Food and Drug Administration.

The goal in the fight between Obama and smoking has been tough even with annual physicals. The 2010 annual physical that Obama took stated that he is still having a tough time with getting over his smoking habit. This is in spite of Obama having a good clean bill of health.

One interesting point about Obama and smoking is that there is no real evidence as to how often Obama has been smoking while in office. He has stated that he does not smoke every single day and that he has had a few relapses every once in a while. First Lady Michelle Obama has been supportive of the President’s efforts to stop but even she does not have any details on how often he is smoking.

This concern about Obama and smoking is important because it may suggest that Obama could be hiding the fact that he is still smoking. This is a worrisome point because of the way how his lack of acknowledgement of smoking could cause some serious concerns. One example of people viewing Obama and smoking comes from Robert Gibbs, the Press Secretary. Gibbs stated in December 2010 that he had not seen Obama smoke since March of that year.

This should be a good sign of the need to stop the link of Obama and smoking. This does not necessarily mean that Gibbs was in a room when Obama was smoking. Therefore, the details on whether or not the link between Obama and smoking is still existent are not very clear.

The biggest point is that Obama is still stating that he wants to tell his two children someday that he does not smoke. He wants to be completely honest in doing so. This is a very positive step forward in his goal to try and stop smoking for good.

The history of Obama's attempts to try and stop smoking is very notable. This is a history that relates to the ways how Obama and smoking have been linked not only in the past but also how Obama is trying to stop. Everyone says that he is looking to stop but it is unclear as to whether or not the link between Obama and smoking has been broken for good. Of course, the lack of evidence that suggests that Obama has fully stopped is a concern that still needs to be reviewed.
